No Autorun/ Autlogin for non admin users

Post by da_yoshman on Fri Sep 20, 2013 7:35 am

Hi,

first i wanna say thanks for this program <img src=" title="Smile" /> We are in the progress of migrating users from lotus notes to exchange 2010 and will use your program for making the users happier with this change. We use it on windows 2003 terminalservers installing owatray to %programfiles%..., putting an scenario.xml to the users homedrive and starting owatray with this path as param. everything is working fine except one thing -->
we put owatray in the autorun folder, but is only working for admin-users. If i login as an admin, owatray starts minimized and logged in to owa. But as an non-admin user owatray starts, i have to click the start-button and then owatray gets minimized.

Any ideas? <img src=" title="Smile" />

kind regards from germany
steffen

Steffen,

The autostart copies a shortcut to the Startup folder on the Start Menu. You should be able to look and see if this shortcut has been created for your non-Admin users.

If not, then I suspect you have a permissions issue. If you can't resolve this then you can always create the shortcut manually?

Hi,

i copy the link manually to the users and owatray is starting successfully, but it is not starting minimized - you see the window and have to click on start. as an admin-user it is starting minimized and logged in to owa automatically

Steffen,

Please look for a file called user.config in sub-folders under this folder.

Code:
%localappdata%\The_Drunken_Bakery

If this is not there then there must be a security problem for non-admin users.

We are running into this same issue. Is there a way to write that user.cfg fie to a different directory? We run our VDI in Read only mode and would like to put this file in the users home directories where we currently have the xml file. GREAT PROGRAM btw!! <img src=" title="Smile" />

Sorry, no the user.cfg cannot be moved, however the account-specific settings are not stored in this file, they are stored in a file called scenario.xml which by default lives in the application folder. The location of this file can be specified at startup by passing a command-line parameter to the application. See other entries in this forum for details.

Thanks.
